Cesar Chavez
Who is this activist?
Cesar Chavez was born in Yuma Arizona March 31 1927. He died on April 23 1993. He was one of many, Latino-American, or just latino farmers in the 1900s-1970s. They were not paid well for their hard work in the fields all day, in dangerous circumstances. For example, the only tools they were given to work with were big, sharp, just dangerous. They also had to work in the fields while chemicals to keep insects that eat the crops away. This was dangerous to humans though too, this caused them to get sick a lot. Cesar Chavez decided to stand up against this, because he knew it was wrong. To me over all Cesar Chavez is a role model, not only an activist.
What is Cesar fighting for?
In the first paragraph it talks about the extreme conditions the mexican-americans were forced to work in without being paid close to enough money for their hard work in the sun, the chemicals in the field, and working with big dangerous tools. Even children had to work like this. Like everybody else, Cesar Chavez felt that this was wrong. Except he did something about it. He fought against this without using violence, despite his strong opinion on it. He was also able to help people see that they should handle the situation without violence, and everybody eventually agreed and fought without using violence.
What makes Cesar person special or unique?
Despite all the pain, labor, just unfairness that Cesar Chavez and all the other Mexican-american farmers faced they still did not use violence, (Cesar leading them.)
This shows that Cesar fights for the right thing in the right way, even when there is lots of anger inside him. A lot of of people in this situation would have used violence, maybe without Cesar Chavez the Mexican-Americans would have used violence, who knows? But Cesar Chavez did not use violence in this situation makes him special and unique.
Craig Kielburger
Who is this activist?
Craig Kielburger is from Thornhill, Markham, Canada, in december 17 1982. To me Craig shows that no matter what age you can help make the world a better place. He was twelve when he visited India and after that trip decided to make a contribute to stopping child labor, at the age of 12! He now has a charity called free the children, he has been contributing almost his whole life.
What is Craig fighting for?
He is fighting for child labor to be ban all over the world. He started making a contribute to this at the age of 12 in India. He saw lots of kids there doing hard labor all day, and not going to school. He didn’t just past these situations on the streets, he asked the children questions, gathered as much information on their lives as possible, and just a reminder, at the age of 12. He didn’t stop contributing after he left India, he never lost interest, in fact he is still helping the cause, he even has a charity to raise money for schools, and to help kids get away from child labor.
What makes Craig special?
Craig started helping children that are in labor or not going to school, at the age of 12 while visiting India. this is special because he shows no matter what age you can help make the world a better place, and he showed us that we can do that by doing it himself, that is unique. He has also made a contribute ever since he visited India. As a grown man he still does. He even made a charity called free the children. This shows how unique, special, and overall how important Craig is.
